GCC on Windows and Linux
Windows contains no program authoring tools in the base product. Most Windows-only developments acquire the Microsoft Visual C/C++ product or a superset called Microsoft Visual Studio. Included in the Visual C/C++ product is a C/C++ compiler, a debugger, and all the requisite programming libraries to build Windows applications. Complete documentation and up-to-date libraries must be purchased separately in the Microsoft Developers Network (MSDN) product family.
