Setup Basics
All of our systems are based on TCP/IP, and we will discuss the basic connectivity for all machines in the same way. Our approach will be to start with the simple configuration issues and progress to the more difficult. First, we establish basic network connectivity. TCP/IP requires the same configuration information on all of our systems. There is no distinction between Linux and Windows desktop systems and Windows servers. “Big” systems are distinguished from smaller systems by having more network adapters.
