GUI-Mode Clients

We define GUI-mode clients as thin clients that provide a pixel-addressed user interface complete with pointing device (e.g., mouse) support. Yes, some of the character-mode clients actually paint on a GUI, but the character locations are cells, not pixels, and no pictures are transmitted or displayed. Some of the technologies we cover in this section are asymmetric. For instance, one program may operate only from Windows to Linux. Another may be the opposite. We shall note this when it applies.
