Time for action—making the bass pitch friends with our harmony

For our first bassline to go with this beat, we are going to have the bass follow the kick:

  1. Grab the sample bass_acid02 from the My Samples | Basses folder.
  2. Add the sample to the Beat+Bassline Editor.
  3. Add 16 steps to the new instrument.
  4. Use the steps shown in the following screenshot for our new bass pattern:

  5. Now hit the Space bar. It doesn't sound great, right? Let's open the Piano-Roll and change the bass note.
  6. Open the Piano-Roll for bass_acid02.
  7. Change your tool to Select Mode by using the Shift + s keys or clicking on the icon that looks similar to the following screenshot:
