Gigabit Configurations

Figure 8.1 depicts an environment that benefits from a gigabit link. The servers in the figure are linked to 100Mbps switches. The switches also interconnect communities of workstations. Each 100Mbps switch has one gigabit port, and a gigabit link between the 100Mbps switches provides ample bandwidth for client/server and server/server communications.
