Using Link Aggregation

Figure 15.1 shows an example of how aggregated links are used to prevent network bottlenecks. At the top, a pair of full-duplex 1Gbps links between large switches has been aggregated into a virtual full-duplex 2Gbps link. On the right, four full-duplex 100Mbps links leading to a server farm have been aggregated into a virtual full-duplex 400Mbps link. On the left, two 100Mbps full-duplex links leading to a community of 10Mbps workstations have been aggregated.
