Implementing VLANs
The previous sections introduced some major VLAN concepts and features. Now it is time to focus on how VLANs are configured and how switches process VLAN frames.

Assigning a VLAN identifier
Defining VLAN members
Listing the switch ports through which members of the VLAN can be reached
For each VLAN port, indicating whether frames belonging to a VLAN must be transmitted from the port with or without tags
There are many different ways to define VLAN membership, including the following:
Default—Initially, all ports in a switch belong to the same default VLAN.
