MAC address

A Layer 2 address associated with a network interface card. It is used for LAN source and destination addresses.

MAC sublayer

The portion of the data link layer that wraps outgoing data into frames, checks the CRC for incoming frames, and includes the protocols that control access to the medium.

Management Information Based (MIB)

A collection of SNMP network management variables.

Manchester encoding

A method of encoding bits onto a medium. There is a voltage transition in the middle of each bit. A 0 has a transition from high to low, and a 1 has a transition from low to high.
