Local needs vs. global resources
Abstract:
This chapter defines the distinction between Library 2.0 and 3.0, and the reason why we need to prepare for 3.0 while 2.0 is not fully realized. It goes on to outline a map of virtualization to enable the local community to take advantage of global resources, and the impact of virtualization on library services. The outlined virtualization consists of at least three components: virtual communities; virtual resources; and virtual locations.
