Introduction

This chapter provides information on the dwelling’s heating system whether gas fired, oil fired, electric or solid fuel. Guidance is given for electrical and lighting installations including the minimum allowable light fittings and socket outlets per room.

Creating additional space with a loft conversion requires extending your heating system and electrics. This will provide an added strain on them and, depending on their age and performance, they may need replacing or upgrading. The following information is for guidance only.
