Checking for updates

yum may be used to check for available updates for packages running on the computer. You can run the check-updates command to perform a check for any available package or specify a particular package you want to update. This example checks for any available updates:

# yum check-update
Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit
gtk2.i586                               2.16.5-1.fc11              updates
mysql-libs.i586                         5.1.36-1.fc11              updates
selinux-policy.noarch                   3.6.12-69.fc11             updates
