Configuring and Using GNU Privacy Guard (GPG)

This book isn’t the place for a full GPG tutorial. However, the LPI 102 exam requires you to understand how to use the standard GPG command to:

  • Generate a key pair

  • Import (i.e., add) a public key to a GPG keyring

  • Sign keys

  • List keys

  • Export both a public and private key

  • Encrypt and decrypt a file

You will also be expected to troubleshoot a standard implementation, which means that you’ll need to understand the files in the ~/.gnupg/ directory.
