There’s this factory, and one morning, in the middle of the heaviest work shift, all the machinery goes down. Drills stop drilling; pumps stop pumping; confabulators stop confabulating. In a panic, the floor manager calls a repair contractor and explains the desperate situation.
After half an hour, the technician arrives. He nonchalantly walks through the factory, past the silent drills, pumps, and confabulators, to a small control box at the back of the expansive room. He opens the cabinet, peruses the switches and wiring, and removes a small screwdriver from his toolbox. He finds an inconspicuous screw and twists it a one-quarter turn. Instantaneously, the factory floor comes back to life.
