Applications
Applications, which are also known as programs, are software packages you use to get work done. Here are some examples:
• Word processors, such as TextEdit, iWork’s Pages, and Microsoft Office’s Word, are used to write letters, reports, and other text-based documents.
• Spreadsheets, such as iWork’s Numbers and Microsoft Office’s Excel, have built-in calculation features that are useful for creating number-based documents such as worksheets and charts.
• Databases, such as FileMaker Pro, are used to organize information, such as the names and addresses of customers or the artists and titles in a music collection.
