USING MICROPHONES AND HEADPHONES

If you are a singer or play a musical instrument other than keyboards or guitar, you'll need to use a mic to get your sound into GarageBand.

CONNECTING MICROPHONES

You can use a single vocal mic hooked directly into your Mac to record your voice. But using a mic preamp and an audio interface will give you higher-quality results and more flexibility.

If you are using a stereo pair of mics to record an instrument, a stereo audio interface built preamp is the way to go.

If you want to use three or more mics to record your entire band, you will need a mixer or, better yet, a mixer with an audio interface.
