Group-based optimization of large groups of devices in machine-to-machine (M2M) communications networks

Abstract

Machine-to-machine (M2M) communications generally involve large groups of devices. A single M2M application can easily involve thousands to hundreds of thousands of devices. Handling large groups of devices requires optimizations in subscription management and billing. Cellular operators can also introduce functionality specifically geared to large groups of devices (e.g. group-based messaging and group-based policing).
