Abstract
This chapter highlights the issues pertaining to power-saving in cellular networks from both the machine-to-machine (M2M) device perspective and the network operation perspective. On the one hand, the chapter discusses the direct ways to remove unnecessary M2M activities and reduce the execution frequency for certain activities. On the other hand, the chapter also discusses the indirect ways to improve the network operations and signaling flow for both access stratum (AS) and non-access stratum (NAS).
