PART 1 Low-Level Vision

This part of the book introduces images and image processing, and then proceeds to show how image processing may be developed in order to start the process of image analysis. By the end of Chapter 8 image analysis is taken, via this “traditional” route, to a reasonably useful level. Although Chapter 8 encompasses and summarizes much of the earlier work, Chapter 7 is better envisaged as forming a bridge with Part 2, as it already incorporates a greater degree of global analysis for real-world objects.
