If this is your first Mac, you might want to know the basics of how to set up, start, and shut it down. If you have owned a Mac before, you are probably familiar with these things and can skip most of this chapter, but you may want to read the last section, “To Sleep or To Shut Down,” if you’ve always thought that you should shut down your Mac when you are done using it.
