You use file-system permissions to control macOS file and folder authorization. Used with user account identification and authorization, file-system permissions provide the Mac with a secure multiuser environment.

In this lesson, you learn how file-system ownership and permissions enable controlled access to local files and folders. You also explore macOS default permission settings that provide secure access to shared files. You then use the Finder to make ownership and permissions changes.
