Chapter 4. Adding Text

Fireworks is a very powerful graphics program for creating Web and interactive images. No matter how creative and informative your images are, though, you will still want to provide labels for your buttons and text for your banner ads. Fireworks provides many features for applying and formatting text in your images.

Text in a Fireworks document saved in the original PNG file format is always editable. However, after you export the image as a GIF or JPEG file, the text becomes part of the bitmap image and cannot be changed. Thus, you should always keep the original Fireworks file (the PNG file) along with the exported images in case the text needs to be changed.
