Reflections

I want to explore some other factors that should be considered when working on strategic issues:

  1. Innovation and invention are ever-present. We may resist change, but we can be sure our competitors are searching for and harnessing new opportunities. New ideas tend to emerge in multiple places at the same time, and the window to exploit them is limited. Strategies can be defensive, focusing on what can destroy your organisation; or they can be offensive, creating strength by exploiting new opportunities.
