5 How to plan for successful change: Re-estimation

I would argue that all projects would benefit from re-estimation, but change cannot succeed without it. Re-estimation is the only way to deliver change, on time, consistently. The biggest challenge in re-estimation is that you may need to admit that you were wrong in the first place and you may take longer than you first thought. These are two things project managers are not traditionally rewarded for.

The reality is that the current plan does not reflect reality and is rarely achievable. The ‘reality gap’ that we met earlier just gets bigger and bigger.
