Chapter 2. Popular Drone Control Systems
Of the three breakthroughs that made drones possible—motors, batteries, and control systems—I find control systems the most interesting. Perhaps I am biased by a lifetime of writing code, but I am also drawn by the human elements. Of course, real people with stories to tell developed our motors and batteries too, but those stories are trapped inside companies in China. The flight controllers we will look at here are mostly open source, so the story of their development gets played out in public.
