Abstract:

In order to make conclusions about the quality of a collection, the data must be reliable. One way to verify a library collection is to perform a physical inventory. Each physical item is checked against its record as reported by the integrated library system (ILS). This chapter breaks this task into manageable parts, and advocates for integrating inventory into ongoing collection maintenance.
