Creating collection objectives and benchmarks
Abstract:
Objectives and benchmarks can be used to focus a librarian’s goals for a collection. Library vision and mission statements are important in keeping the focus of the library in a general direction. Objectives and benchmarks are practical implementations of that focus. Different libraries will have different users and different missions. Managing a collection should have a specific role in fulfilling a library’s mission and vision.
