Collection organization

Abstract:

The physical building and space are the primary drivers of collection organization. A building with multiple floors has different considerations than a library on one level. In addition, the building floor plan is important. Collections need to be user friendly, workflows of staff need to be considered, and also the variety of formats in library collections. Other collection organizational strategies include allocating appropriate shelf space and the use of alternative classification systems.
