There is no universal definition of data, in terms of ESG. The word implies that an organization has sufficient and detailed information to demonstrate progress toward the achievement of ESG targets, no matter what those targets are. It implies numerical data, algorithms, software packages, and careful data harvesting and input. These ideas are not far from the practical reality, and it seems that regulatory authorities and other interested parties increasingly seek data provision in accepted ways and in a common and consistent format.
