Project 11: “Stayin’ Alive” Dance Move Triggers MP3

The Exercise Measurement project was all about movement. We compared the position of a user’s limb over time with a prerecorded movement and gave the user multiple forms of feedback so he could correct his motion. We based the interaction on a single limb because people have a limited ability to absorb and respond to visual feedback in real time. If we tried to correct the motion of multiple limbs simultaneously, users would find the experience overwhelming and end up incapable of following along at all.

In this project, on the other hand, we’re going to look at the position of the entire body as a whole. Instead of tracking a user’s motion over time, we’ll check to see if she has assumed a particular ...
