4 Delegating upwards

Generally speaking, delegation moves down the business—but sometimes it’s necessary to delegate upwards. It may be that you need to make use of your boss’s knowledge, influence, or political ‘clout’. For example, if a colleague is being obstructive, you may ask your boss to step in and ask the colleague to do whatever it is you need them to do. You may also find that on some occasions you need to ‘borrow’ power from your boss to resolve a tricky situation.
