Your Fit With the Job

Your ability to create a positive impact for your organization and yourself also depends on your fit with the job, specifically your job challenges and whether or not you (1) have the necessary skills to address these challenges, (2) put in the required effort, and (3) receive adequate support to do your job (Figure 6).

Research on “Flow”

For over 40 years, Professor Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi and his associates have conducted careful research on “flow”1—the deep sense of enjoyment one feels when one is immersed in what one is doing. When in flow, your sense of time is altered, you tend to forget yourself, and you feel a strong sense of being in control.
