How to build a team
Building a team is no easy task, and requires all of the manager roles (as discussed in Chapter 1, Whose Side Are You On?) to be applied.
Explain the big picture, purpose, and fitment of the team in the larger universe
Every team should know its purpose and fitment in the immediate organization and the larger corporate as well.
Things that should be clear to every team member are as follows:
- What the team is supposed to contribute
- How this contribution is important to the organization
- The size and complexity of the task for the team
- How work flows to this team and how the output of the team flows to other teams
- Different kinds of work that is expected
- How customers use the product or service
- What is important for the eventual customers ...
