7.1 Managing defects

Managing defects involves carrying out planned inspections at each stage of the construction process. For example, during the fitting out of kitchens and bathrooms regular inspections should be recorded at each stage of work: first fix, second fix and final fix. This process should reduce the items contained on the final snagging list.

The approach to recording and managing defects during a project is to be covered under the following headings.
