Do you recall that as the flight attendants were explaining the safety procedures, they instructed you to put on your own oxygen mask first, before you help your child? This is because you can’t help your child—or yourself—if you’re starting to lose consciousness because of lack of oxygen. Helping yourself first might seem selfish, but it’s actually life-saving.
