The story of the Emma Maersk and crew illustrate able problem recognition. On the evening of February 1, 2013, the container ship loaded with 14,000 containers of cargo suffered a devastating mechanical failure just as it initiated its passage into the Suez Canal. The main engine room flooded and caused the loss of several of the ship’s systems.
