This chapter explains the differences between data management and data quality management. We then introduce the key principles relating to data quality management.
Data are the lifeblood of most modern organisations. Managing the quality of these data needs to be approached from an organisation or enterprise level. This is, in part, a requirement due to the ease with which end users can create local data stores that complicate the data landscape, often using spreadsheet type applications.
