Introduction

Since the publication of the first volume (see Budhwar, 2004), there has been continued interest in studying the human resource (HR) practices in the Asia-Pacific region. Not surprisingly, countries in the region have followed different trajectories in their growth paths. This is to be expected as the socio-cultural, economic, political and legal frameworks (among others) guide and often determine national HRM policies and practices (Budhwar and Debrah, 2009).
