Introduction

The purpose of this chapter is to alert the reader what type of people will be involved in the assessment and what levels of expertise they should have. A product innovation system assessment involves most of the players within the organization and, as a result, must be carefully planned and executed to minimize the impact on normal work activities.

The IMS is made up of many different and interrelated processes that need to be evaluated during this assessment. This chapter points out key processes that need to be considered. Processes vary from organization to organization so the list provided is much more detailed than most organization are using.
