The item

What is an item of heritage? In the context of tourism, what are the needs of an item of heritage, and how may these be achieved?

An item of heritage: either a cultural site or cultural items

To look first at the question of what constitutes an item of heritage, it could be defined, in the context of this book, as:

i) a cultural site itself, whether single location or scattered, or
ii) a cultural object or objects, of one or many types, housed at a location or locations.
