Abstract

As the sole managers of their libraries, solo librarians, unlike their counterparts, do not have a lot of time to attend to their professional development, perhaps beyond reading journal articles, corresponding on listservs, or maintaining an interest in their given fields. Yet professional development is a crucial part of any librarian’s growth to become a better and more knowledgeable worker; development activities allow librarians to learn new skills and discover areas of librarianship of which they may have been unaware.
