Everyone in management will agree that training and development is an important part of the management job. Although there is a lot of lip service paid to this, how much of it actually occurs? Not nearly enough. As a good manager, it is vitally important to know where your people want to go, and to plan ways for them to get there. This will buy you loyalty, and will make people want to work for you. If you truly care about them, then you will truly care about their careers; both during the time they work for you, and when they pass beyond your company and seek their fortunes elsewhere.
