Before we begin, let's set some guidelines:

  • The resolution is 72 pixels per inch. While some monitors may be 96 PPI or in the case of retina displays, they can range from 220 PPI to 326 PPI for desktop and tablets, we can use 72 PPI as our base to figure out how large we want our image to be.

    Tip

    One thing about the new high-definition computer and retina displays of tablets is that the resolution of the displays matches the print quality (more than 200 pixels per inch). We are given more freedom to create high-definition artwork that isn't as tied to the 72 or 92 pixels per inch of monitors of yesterday.
