Package Management, Dependencies, Environment Variables, and Licenses

In this chapter, we will examine Manjaro further by diving into dependencies and packages. The pacman package manager is the default for Arch Linux and is thus supported and actively used in Manjaro. Manjaro adds the pamac pacman frontend, which provides a GUI, more options, and, most importantly, Flatpak, Snap, and AUR support. Furthermore, we will explain the basics of environment variables, often used as modification points for installed applications. We will finalize the chapter by briefly examining open source licenses, as they are the base of the Free and Open Source Software (FOSS).
