Where reference data has a very specific definition and scope within the context of this
guide, business data refers to a much broader universe of content – the actual statistical
facts (or fields) that describe a particular financial instrument. As such, the business
data class contains easily the largest number of logical attributes.
As described in Chapter 2, this framework breaks business data into two main sub-
classes, each of which is, in turn, made up of data types and subtypes. These are:
