Publisher is a page-layout program that you can use to create newsletters, brochures, greeting cards, and even Web pages. Publisher differs from Word in that it has much finer control over placement of text and graphics and is designed specifically for turning your content into publishable documents.
Word's greatest strength is in working with text, which makes Word ideal for creating books, lengthy articles, or anything that needs features such as tables of contents, indexes, and footnotes.
