The Power of Not Caring

While attending a sales training conference for financial advisors a few years back, the topic turned to communicating one's “differentiator” to their client(s). We went around the room and ironically 70 percent of the guys (yes, this industry is still basically a good old boy's club, and the women who have accepted that this is the current paradigm are figuring out ways to really effectively differentiate) had the exact same answers: “I love to help people” or “I take care of my clients” or “I listen.” Then there was Don.
