In the Windows Server 2016 OS, LDS can be installed using Server Manager. In order to install LDS, a user needs to log in to the selected systems with local administrator privileges.
Once logged in, launch Server Manager and click on Add Roles and Features. Then, follow the wizard, select Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services under Server Roles, and proceed with enabling the role:
