Mastering chaos: the Lorenz attractor model

In order to get good simulated test data, we are using the so-called Lorenz attractor model.

Let's start with a little sample use case. Consider the task of detecting anomalies in vibration (accelerometer) sensor data measuring a bearing. In order to obtain such a data stream, we simply attach such a sensor to or near the bearing:

The Lorenz attractor model is a physical model capable of generating a three-dimensional data stream, which we will use in place of a real accelerometer sensor stream. By the way, Lorenz was one of the founders of the chaos theory.
