Summary

In this chapter, we discussed how to use Salesforce inbound APIs, such as the sObject and bulk data APIs as well as creating our own inbound APIs. We also discussed making outbound API calls from within Apex and how to structure our code to facilitate code reuse with a RestClient class as well as individual API and request classes. Together, these techniques enable you to programmatically pull or push data into your Salesforce org, allowing you to tie into other systems such as SAP, Oracle, or even the Postal Service.

In our next chapter, we'll dive into how we can work as a team on the Salesforce1 platform, including version control, continuous integration, and the process that ties it all together.
