Configuring the Arduino within the IDE

To connect an Arduino to the IDE the first thing the IDE needs to know is what type of Arduino is being used. To do this we click on the Tools option in the menu bar and select the Board option as shown in the following screenshot:

When the Board option is selected the IDE displays a list of compatible boards. This list will look similar to the following screenshot:
